If you have two friends or colleagues at work who are splendiferous spellers (and, of course, if you yourself know your way around a dictionary), form a team and sign up for the first ever Everett Public Library Spelldown.
This spelling bee for grown-ups is part of an effort at the main library to raise funds for construction of a room especially for teens and a larger room for increasing audiences of small children at story times.
Teams of three adults pay a $100 registration fee, all going to support the projects for the kids. Businesses can pitch in to send a team from their workplace to demonstrate spelling prowess. A cash bar serving beer, wine and root beer should liven the atmosphere.
The Spelldown is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 8, at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.
Pick up a registration form at the main library or Evergreen branch, or print one online.
