Stage talk: Actress honored

Actress Jennifer Paz, who is performing in the role of Belle in Village Theatre’s production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” has just won her first Ovation Award for her work as Kim, the lead actress in Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities’ production of “Miss Saigon.”

Paz has performed in several of the Issaquah- and Everett-based Village Theatre productions including “The King and I,” “Tommy,” and her knock-‘em-out title role as Eva Peron in “Evita.”

The Los Angeles Stage Alliance honors the best in Southern California theater by presenting Ovation Awards annually. The Philippine-born Paz was raised in Renton and now lives Los Angeles.

Village Theatre’s production of “Beauty and the Beast,” directed by Steve Tomkins with scenic and lighting design by Alex Berry and costume design by Deane Middleton, is running in Issaquah through Jan. 4 before opening Jan. 9 at Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. “Beauty” will run in Everett at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays with selected shows at 7 p.m. Sundays through Feb. 1.
