Collegiate couple Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush, pictured) and Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton) hit the road en route to spring break, but their pleasure trip soon turns into a waking nightmare after they encounter the mysterious hitchhiker John Ryder (Sean Bean), in “The Hitcher,” opening today without a screening for reviewers. Grace and Jim are blindsided when Ryder implicates them in a horrific slaying and continues to shadow them. The open road becomes a battleground of blood and metal as, in trying to elude not only Ryder but also New Mexico State Police Lieutenant Esteridge’s (Neal McDonough) officers, Grace and Jim must face their fears and fight for their lives. The movie, rated R for violence, terror and language, is showing at Alderwood, Everett, Galaxy Monroe, Marysville, Mountlake, Pacific Place, Varsity, Woodinville, Cascade Mall and Oak Harbor. Look for Robert Horton’s review of “The Hitcher” in Saturday’s Herald.
