When the low-born Monty Navarro finds out that he’s eighth in line for an earldom in the lofty D’Ysquith family, he figures his chances of outliving his predecessors are slight and sets off down a far more ghoulish path. A recently married man tells a tiny lie to cover an innocent, but embarrassing, indiscretion in “Ladies Man,” showing Sept. 27 to Oct. 20. From that single untruth tumbles a cascade of deceptions, misunderstandings and mistaken identities. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, students, military.

Angel of the Winds Arena: 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett; 866-332-8499; www.angelofthewindsarena.com. “We Will Rock You,” a musical by Queen and Ben Elton, is showing 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30. The futurist comedy features 24 of Queen’s greatest hits, including “We Are The Champions,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites The Dust” and, of course, “We Will Rock You.” Tickets are $35-$89.50.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. Staging Oct. 18 to Nov. 3, with “Dark of the Moon” an Appalachian folk tale comes to the stage, telling the story of John the Witch Boy and his love for Barbara Allen. Tickets are $20 general, $17 seniors, students, military.

Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600; www.villagetheatre.org/everett. The musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” set for Oct. 25 to Nov. 17, follows an eclectic group of middle schoolers as they fight for the title of regional spelling bee champ – and all the glory that comes with it. Tickets are $70 general, $65 senior and $55 youth.

YOUTH THEATER

“Black Beauty”: 201 Thomas St., Seattle; 206-441-3322; www.sct.org. Mukilteo’s own Keagan Estes stars in Seattle Children’s Theatre’s production. Shows are Sept. 26 through Oct. 27. Based on the beloved children’s book by Anna Sewell, the play tells the life story of a beautiful horse, from his days as carefree colt, and as a workhorse in the busy streets of London, before his graceful retirement in a country pasture.

COMEDY

Northshore Performing Arts Center: 18125 92nd Ave. NE, Bothell; 425-298-3449; www.npacf.org. Audience members write down made up song titles and improvisers gather the suggestions and present them as “nominated songs” for the PHONY Awards. “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical” is the only unscripted theatrical awards show 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28. Tickets are $42 for adults, $35 for seniors and military and $15 for youth.
