The thriller “Wait Until Dark” by Frederick Knott opens the season and runs from Sept. 16-Oct. 2. The play pits Susy, a recently blinded woman, against sinister thugs in a life-and-death game of cat and mouse. Directed by Ian Stewart.

Phoenix Theatre: The comedy theater is at 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000 or www.phoenixtheatreedmonds.org. Tickets for the Phoenix 2016-17 season also are available now. The plays include Ken Ludwig’s “Moon Over Buffalo,” opening Oct. 7 and running Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 30 under the direction of Eric Lewis. The cast includes Jay Jenkins, Tom Cook, Karen Hendrickson, Steve Heiret, Cindy Boggio, Tracy Kirtkpatrick, Jim Thompson and Melanie Calderwood.

Red Curtain: Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit arts education organization, plans to open a new arts center in Marysville on Oct. 1, also the date of a fundraising auction and dinner at 6 p.m. at 9215 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville. Ballet

Olympic Ballet Theatre: The Edmonds company’s 36th season opens with its annual Beaux Arts Gala dinner and auction on Oct. 15 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. More at facebook.com/OlympicBalletTheatre. Olympic Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will be performed Dec. 9-11 at the Everett Performing Arts Center and Dec. 15-18 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The full-length romantic ballet “Giselle” is to be performed April 8 at the Everett Performing Arts Center and April 29 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The Russian Grand Ballet: The touring company will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Edmonds Center for the Arts. Tickets from $45 at www.edmondscenterforthearts.org.

“Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus”: The off-Broadway comedy is a one-man fusion of theater and stand-up comedy based on the best selling book by John Gray. See it at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Call 425-258-6766 for ticket information.

Everett Comedy Night: Emory’s on Silver Lake, 11830 19th Ave. SE, Everett, hosts a second-Sunday monthly comedy night with Cory Michaelis. Tickets are $10.
