“Role Players”: Lake Stevens High School alum Josh Pulley, 21, has written and composed an absurdist musical comedy about friendship and tabletop RPGs titled “Role Players,” which is being presented at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11-12 at the Pocket Theater, 8312 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle. Tickets are $14, or $10 online at bit.ly/RolePlayersMusical. Other Lake Stevens alumni involved include director Megan Murphy, Mason Beaver and Noah Dominick.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school). To kick off the season, Red Curtain hosts a reading of scenes from the plays and musicals scheduled, 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 12.
