SEATTLE — Bumbershoot, the annual Seattle music and arts festival, may not kick off until the end of the summer, but tickets already are on sale and going fast.
This year’s featured performers include Bob Dylan, Neko Case, The Decemberists, Weezer, Hole and Mary J. Blige, plus many, many more.
Like the past 39 years, the 40th celebration will fill the Seattle Center with arts and entertainment of all kinds.
The promoters say they got lots of complaints (they call it “feedback”) about last year’s ticket prices, so this year they’ve come up with a new ticket policy.
For $40 a day, people can buy a Standard Pass, which guarantees admission to the mainstage performances where all the big acts play. If people want to pass on the big concerts and enjoy the abundance of other acts and activities, they can purchase a $22 Economy Ticket. There’s a $30 upgrade option for people who buy the cheaper ticket and decide last minute to see a big act.
This year, kids 10 and younger are free (up from 5 and younger in previous years) but that’s only for admission to the grounds, not the mainstage.
There were three-day passes to the mainstage for $110, but they’re already sold out. If you want the deluxe treatment, there still are three-day VIP and Deluxe passes for $250 or $450.
Ticket prices go up at the door, so book in advance.
