The singing group of Voices Northwest is moving its musical act downtown. Downtown Everett, that is.
For the past two years, Voices Northwest has been headquartered at Christ the King Lutheran in Snohomish.
Starting Monday, the group will base its operations, including rehearsals, at Trinity Episcopal, 2301 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Practices will remain at 7 p.m. Mondays.
“Now that we’ll be located in Everett, we’re hoping to gather up even more new folks over the months and years ahead as well as having our performances right in the heart of town,” Voices Northwest director Sue Beck said.
Voices Northwest is an a cappella group of women, ranging in age from 13 to 75, who sing barbershop style. They’ve performed songs by Huey Lewis and The News and Gloria Estefan and the “Phantom of the Opera” score.
Any woman who can carry a tune is welcome to join. Members can expect to learn about posture, resonance of the soft palate, and the artistry and style of barbershop, which involves singing in the male ranges of tenor, baritone and bass.
Beck, a Boeing employee who lives in Everett, has been singing barbershop style for 36 years and has performed internationally many times.
