Twenty historic sites in national parks, including Mount Rainier National Park, are vying for $2 million in preservation grants, and the public is invited to vote for their favorite places.
Mount Rainier’s project asks for $218,000 to fix up the Longmire Historic District Search and Rescue House. Sites are listed at VoteYourPark.org. You can vote once a day for up to five parks through July 5. The seven park sites with the most votes will get their requests fully funded. Other sites will share the balance of the $2 million depending on how many votes they get.
Every one of the 20 contenders will also get a $10,000 grant. Voters can enter to win a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
