A handy place to start collecting information for your trip is the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau where clicking on “Things to Do” will take you to sightseeing possibilities and show you recreation opportunities on land and water. Hit “Visitors” to browse the hotel package deals and use the search menu for lodging ranging from campgrounds to romantic bed-and-breakfast inns and luxury hotels.

Another spot to look for the perfect place to stay is Poconos Best, where you can pore over cabin and home rentals, mountain lodges and romantic getaways. And for a really relaxing vacation, take a look at the directory of area spas.

Next, take a break from hunting for hotels and visit Poconos Pics, where you can sit back and enjoy a brief slide show of the scenery.

On the edge of the Poconos, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area covers a swath of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey shore of the Delaware River, at the point where the river cuts through the Appalachian Mountains. In addition to scenery to admire, the park offers hiking, camping and fishing.

And as long as you’re close to the water, the Delaware River Recreation Page can help you find outfits that will rent you a canoe or fix you up with an inner tube. It’s also full of information on camping, hiking and fishing.

You’ll need a license for that fishing. Visit the Pennsylvania Fish &Boat Commission and click on “Forms” on the left side of the screen for a license application. Then hit “Fishing” for season information and fishing reports.

For details on state parks, camping, trails and other visitors’ details, the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has help arranged by topic, and interactive maps where you can click on the Poconos area.

www.golfpocono.com

Don’t worry, you don’t have spend all your time hiking, fishing or otherwise communing with nature. Golf in the Poconos can help you find a course.

www.visitpa.com

And if you have time, the state’s VisitPA can help you pick out places to visit in the regions that adjoin the Poconos and Endless Mountains, or elsewhere in the state.
