Wienermobile: It’s no blimp

My vehicle has a first name: Besides the Goodyear blimp, it’s hard to think of a vehicle more garishly awe-inspiring than the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

A model of the yellow-and-red Wienermobile built in 2004 is scheduled to roll on into Snohomish County on Thursday, allowing residents to get a closer look at the slice — or is it the bun? — of Americana.

The famed vehicle weighs 14,000 pounds, stands 11 feet high and stretches 27 feet long, according to press materials. The driver sits in the front tip of a fake hot dog, though the vehicle can carry six people total.

Ready to bite? Visitors can get a glimpse of the Wienermobile, and walk away with a free Wienerwhistle, on Thursday:

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Top Food &Drug, 1301 D Ave., Snohomish.

2 to 5 p.m. at Haggen Food &Pharmacy, 8915 Market Place NE, Lake Stevens.
