Building medical connections is key for these Lynnwood retirees: Here’s how they do it

Good health is a life-long journey, and no less important in our retirement years. It’s for that reason that Quail Park of Lynnwood has built an exceptional network of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals to ensure residents have the care they need to live well.

Good health is a life-long journey, and no less important in our retirement years. It’s for that reason that Quail Park of Lynnwood has built an exceptional network of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other medical professionals to ensure residents have the care they need to live well.

Back in 1933, the first observance of Doctors’ Day was by the Barrow County Alliance in Winder, Georgia, to honor physicians in their efforts to care for citizens; March 30 was significant in that it was on that date, in 1842, that anesthesia was first applied.

“Today, more than ever as we emerge from two years of a global pandemic, we pause to honor not only our physicians, but the full complement of our medical teams who work tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy,” says Sue Rowell, from Quail Park of Lynnwood,

We know that many of the medical breakthroughs we enjoy today would have been inconceivable in 1933, let alone 1842, and we salute all those physicians whose work has made them possible, from wellness research to illness prevention to treatment options.

As a senior living residence with options ranging from independent living cottages and apartments to assisted living and memory care accommodations, plus a recently added Enhanced Assisted Living area, the Quail Park team understands that people’s needs change, and that it’s important to support them in their wellness at the place they’re at today. As those needs change, supports can too.

When needed, for example, the team communicates with physicians, nurses and pharmacists to ensure residents receive the correct medications, reviews the possibility of adverse side effects, and requests physician orders for physical, occupational or speech therapy when needed.

In addition to obtaining information and medical input to ensure they’re able to meet a resident’s needs before they arrive, the trained, on-site professionals are also first responders, and communicate with doctors and medical teams about any emergency that arises.

Day-to-day supports also include providing transportation to medical appointments, access to services such as a traveling dentist and podiatrist who routinely visit to provide care, plus free weekly blood pressure checks, and nursing staff on-site around-the-clock.

Prevention is the best medicine

Of course, recognizing that wellness is essential for illness prevention and good health at every age, Quail Park residents also enjoy access to fitness opportunities, delicious and nutritious food, and activities to support their mental health.
