ARLINGTON — One person died and three others were injured in a three-car rollover crash Friday evening on Highway 530 in Trafton.
Shortly after 7 p.m., Washington State Patrol said a black Chevrolet turned east onto Highway 530 when a driver in a Ford F-150 pickup, driving at a high rate of speed east on Highway 530, struck the Chevrolet from behind.
The Washington State Patrol said the force of the impact pushed the Chevrolet off the road and into a ditch on the right shoulder. The Ford pickup rolled onto its side and into oncoming traffic where a third vehicle, traveling west on Highway 530, struck the pickup head-on.
The driver of the Ford F-150 died at the scene. Three other people were transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased.
Highway 530 near Jim Creek Road was closed in both directions for several hours. The crash remains under investigation, but the Washington State Patrol said driving too fast for the conditions was a contributing factor.
