EVERETT — Firefighters rescued a dog from an apartment fire that displaced 10 people Wednesday morning south of Everett.
Just after 9 a.m., South County Fire crews were called to a sprinkler alarm at a third-floor apartment in the 100 block of 124th Street SE, just east of Mariner High School and just north of South County Fire’s headquarters.
Sprinklers confined the fire, and firefighters were able to extinguish it swiftly.
Nobody was hurt.
The dog, named Milo, had been home alone in the third-floor unit and “got plenty of attention (from firefighters) while waiting to be reunited with his family,” South County Fire tweeted.
Flames, smoke and water damaged the kitchen in the third-floor apartment, South County spokesperson Christie Veley said. An apartment with a shared wall also took water and smoke damage. Four other units below sustained water damage.
The cause remained under investigation Wednesday.
