KENT — Workers at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent have discovered that 11 bronze memorial plaques have been ripped from their granite foundations.
Cemetery director Jim Trimbo said Monday he thinks the theft happened sometime over the weekend. The large plaques were held in place with brass screws and epoxy.
KOMO-TV said the plaques are along a memorial walkway that was built at the cemetery in 1997. They’re donated by various veterans groups.
Besides the 11 that were stolen, three more were damaged. Another 11 or 12 remain unharmed.
