EDMONDS — The City Council tonight will interview 17 applicants to replace City Councilman David Orvis, who recently resigned.
Candidates include former council members Laura Petso, Roger Hertrich and Jeffrey Wilson.
Petso sought a council seat during last year’s election. Petso lost to Adrienne Fraley-Monillas in the general election after edging out councilman Ron Wambolt in the primary.
Also in the running are Edmonds Planning Board member Todd Cloutier; Andrew Eccleshall, chairman of the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission; and Rich Senderoff and Frank Yamamoto, two members of the 17-member Edmonds Economic Development Commission.
The other candidates are: Alvin Rutlege, Stacy Gardea, Carl Brecht, Deborah Anderson, Paul Anderson, Don Fiene, Harry Gatjens, Cyndi Correnti and Franke Demme.
Orvis resigned in May to spend more time with his family. Whomever is appointed will serve the remainder of his term, which expires at the end of 2011.
The council is scheduled to consider and possibly appoint the new council member July 6.
Council members are paid $600 a month and $50 for each meeting to a maximum of $1,000 a month.
