AUBURN, Wash. — A King County sheriff’s spokesman says deputies are trying to locate a sunken car Monday in the Green River.
But Sgt. John Urquhart says the fast-flowing river is still too dangerous for divers to try to recover the car and the bodies of two boys.
Urquhart says officials also are concerned about the threat of renewed flooding from heavy rains forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The 16-year-old driver lost control Friday on a rain-slick road and the car landed in the river near the Auburn golf course. She was able to get out, but the car was swept away with the boys — 2-year-old Hunter Beaupre and 13-year-old Austin Fuda.
Families have kept a vigil on the riverbank.
