2 bus routes, Stanwood park-and-ride lot shut down by flooding

STANWOOD -Community Transit closed two north Snohomish County bus routes this afternoon because of flooding on roadways.

The transit agency also closed the Stanwood park-and-ride lot at 8701 267th St. NW because of possible flooding, spokesman Tom Pearce said.

Effective 4 p.m. today and continuing through at least through Thursday morning, service is suspended on Route 240 between Warm Beach and Stanwood. Other routes in west Stanwood could be affected if other streets in town become flooded, according to the agency.

Route 240 connects Stanwood and Smokey Point through Warm Beach. From Smokey Point, buses will take I-5 to Stanwood and resume regular routing once in town.

The Route 240 shuttle will operate between Smokey Point and Warm Beach but will not serve Stanwood. Passengers will be able to transfer between the two services at Smokey Point Blvd. and 174th Pl. NE.

Route 240 east of Smokey Point is not affected by flooding at this time and will operate as usual.

It’s uncertain when the park-and-ride lot will reopen, Pearce said.

“We don’t have water in there yet but that park and ride does tend to flood,” he said.

Also, Route 230 from Smokey Point to Darrington is not operating beyond Arlington through Wednesday.

Eastbound buses will end service at E. Burke Avenue (Highway 530) and Manhattan Street on the south side of the Stillaguamish River bridge.
