TACOMA, Wash. — Pierce County’s prosecutor says three men have been charged after a police investigation found 44 pounds of methamphetamine.
Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says it was one of the biggest drug busts they’ve seen in Pierce County in the past decade.
Lindquist says Samuel Tafolla Hernandez and Thomas Servantes Diaz were charged on Wednesday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Diaz also faces a firearm charge. A third defendant, Jose Mauricio Lozano-Miranda was also charged with drug possession.
Tacoma police responded to a tip that Hernandez was arranging for meth to be smuggled from the southwest U.S. to Washington. Police say they followed him to a storage locker and found the drugs. They say they also found $225,000 at the Fife home the men shared.
All three are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
