Dorothy Snell, 67, is interested in forming a new Red Hat group in the Marysville and Everett areas.
There is a little twist to this group. It’s for the mildly disabled, who might not keep pace with an active crowd.
“So many times slightly disabled ladies who are over 50 years old are left totally out of social activities because they cannot stand very long or walk very far,” Snell says. “Light strokes, failing hearts, a lack of feeling in the feet, diabetes and other disabling physical conditions severely limit their fun.”
They see other ladies who can still participate in active Red Hat groups doing things together. They wish that they, too, could still go places with these happy groups, she says.
“Slightly disabled ladies are often very lonely, and they wish with all of their hearts they too could join with a Red Hat group and make new friends,” Snell said. “As you get older, many of your friends die, or move away, and your children have interests of their own to deal with.”
If you are interested in joining, write to Dorothy Snell, P.O. Box 1398, Marysville, WA 98270, or e-mail PDSnell@aol.com.

Gambling in Darrington on Saturday night will range in intensity.
Darrington Preschool Co-op hosts a fundraiser at 6 p.m. at the Darrington Community Center, 570 Sauk Ave. There will be bunco and poker.
Organizer Kim Miller says bunco is a super-easy dice game. Folks draw numbers and sit in groups of four. Each table has three dice and the object is to roll the same number and get the most points to advance to the table for winners, she said.
“If poker is your thing, we host a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament with a $30 buy-in and a chance to rebuy in later in the game,” Miller said. “Join us for a fun-filled night and support a great program for early education.”
For more information about the benefit or openings in the preschool, call 360-436-0627.
Miller will be playing in the bunco game.
“Poker is too serious for me,” she said. “A lot of people enjoy it, but it’s not my thing. I’m more a smiley, social girl, who gets loud. Bunco is more me. It’s a blast.”

They’ve offered Kenmore appliances, Craftsman tools and electronic equipment in Marysville for 15 years.
But it’s no longer the Sears Authorized Retail Dealer Store.
They’ve changed the name.
It’s now the Sears Hometown Store.
Marysville store owners Les and Lisa Tripp say they hope the new name reflects the store’s personal approach to their customers.
Corporate can change the name, but for most us, hometown or big box, Sears will always be Sears.
