Army Spc. Neil Thompson, son of Wendy and Wayne Thompson of Everett, recently was named Soldier of the Year at Fort Bragg, N.C. He is the father of three children. He has been in the service for six years, and has served tours of duty in South Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan, and now is anticipating deployment to Egypt. He grew up on the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Navy Seaman Recruit Steven A. Neighbors, son of Andrew S. Neighbors, of Lake Stevens, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Neighbors is a 2011 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Jofer D. Florendo graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Florendo earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Ferdinand Florendo and grandson of Prudencio Diaz, both of Everett. The airman is a 2011 graduate of Kamiak High School, Mukilteo. He earned an associate degree in 2011 from Everett Community College.
