LYNNWOOD — A speeding driver stopped her car in the middle of I-5, and fought with a trooper who tried to detain her, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The woman passed a trooper going 20 mph over the speed limit on the freeway near 196th Street SW. The trooper tried to pull her over at 11 a.m., said trooper Heather Axtman. The woman stopped in a center lane. So the trooper tried to get her to move her car to the shoulder. She refused and grew “very agitated,” Axtman said.
The trooper and the woman scuffled on the freeway. She suffered scrapes to her knees and elbows, and cuts to her head. The woman was detained for investigation of obstructing law enforcement.
She was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, and to be evaluated her for possible mental health problems, Axtman said.
The right lane of the freeway was blocked as troopers responded. The woman’s car was impounded after about an hour.
