Readers rewarded

This year more than 1,000 kids participated in the Everett Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, earning prize rewards including free pizza, bowling, roller skating, and other prizes donated by Everett businesses.

The 2004 program had 436 kids, earning all of the prizes and each reading 100 books or 100 timed, 30-minute reading sessions. These finishers receive the Mayor’s Award, and were honored at the Mayor’s Award Ceremony on Aug. 26 at the Civic Auditorium.

Mayor Ray Stephanson was there to personally greet each child, as library director Mark Nesse presented their award certificates on the stage. The following is a list of kids who received the Mayor’s Award this year.
