Everett: Children’s theater vote tonight
The Everett City Council is scheduled today to vote on whether to enter a long-term lease of the city-owned KeyBank building to Village Theater, an Issaquah-based nonprofit theater group.
The council meets at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 3002 Wetmore Ave.
Before the city can lease the vacant building at Wetmore and California avenues, it needs to upgrade the building. A proposed agreement calls for spending up to $1.5 million to bring the building up to code.
Village Theatre has agreed to lease the space for $48,000 a year once the city makes improvements, including seismic retrofitting.
