‘Messiah’ sing-along set for tonight

Singers in the Stanwood-Camano Island area are invited to participate in a performance of Handel’s “Messiah.”

The sing-along is 7 tonight at St. Aidan Episcopal Church, 1318 Highway 532 on Camano Island.

There is no fee to participate, but people can donate to future musical programs for the community. Those who can are asked to bring their own scores.

A plum pudding reception follows the performance.

Eagles Club plans New Year’s Eve party

The Lynnwood Eagles Club invites the public to its New Year’s Eve party, the Night of New Beginnings.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner, with live music by Starbird from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $20.

Boy Scout troops offer Christmas tree recycling

Troops 65 and 304 of the Boy Scouts of America will offer curbside and drop-off Christmas tree recycling during daylight hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Troop 304 will offer curbside collection of Christmas trees within Lynnwood city limits from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Residents may also drop trees off west of Wilcox Park, one block north of 196th Street SW along 56th Avenue W.

Residents who are eligible for curbside pick-up should have already received a notice of the service, along with an envelope. For curbside pick-up, residents should place a tree at their curb by 8 a.m. on either day and place a donation, by check made out to Troop 304. The envelope should be either mailed or securely attached to the tree.

Troop 65 will offer curbside pick-up on Saturday during daylight hours within the boundaries of 44th Avenue W. to the west, Maple Road to the south, 164th Street SW to the north and Highway 525 to the east.

Residents who have received a notice with an attached envelope for the service should place their trees curbside by 8 a.m. on the day of collection. Donations should be made out to Troop 65, then mailed or attached securely to the tree.

All decorations and tree stands should be removed from the tree before placing it on the curb. Flocked trees will not be accepted for recycling.

Mukilteo

Town hall meeting on Paine Field planned

The three state legislators for the 21st District are planning a town hall meeting regarding proposals for commercial passenger airline service at Paine Field.

The meeting is 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 8 at the new Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.

Sen. Paull Shin, D-Mukilteo; Rep. Mary Helen Roberts, D-Edmonds; and Rep. Marko Liias, D-Mukilteo, will lead the discussion. City and county officials have been invited to the meeting.

Allegiant Air of Las Vegas and Horizon Air of Seattle have indicated an interest in operating passenger service out of the Snohomish County-run airport. A decision on the proposals is expected in the coming year.
