City seeking money to build sidewalks
The city has applied for a federal grant to build curbs and sidewalks along the north side of 222nd Street SW, east of 60th Avenue W.
When completed, the new sidewalk will eliminate a missing link in the sidewalk network connecting 58th and 60th avenues W.
The project includes sidewalk ramps and minor drainage improvements. Where the new sidewalk passes the frontage of Jack Long Park, a stairway provides access up a steep slope to the entrance of the park.
A decision on the grants is tentatively expected in May 2009. If the grant request is approved, construction would take place in 2010.
