PORT ORCHARD – The senior enlisted man at Naval Base Kitsap had his bail reduced Monday from $500,000 to $150,000 at his first court appearance after his arrest for investigation of attempted child rape.
Command Master Chief Edward E. Scott, 43, appeared before Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Leonard Costello.
If Scott makes bail, prosecutors asked that he be barred from contacting anyone under 18 and that he surrender his passport, conditions the judge approved.
Scott has been held in the Kitsap County Jail in Port Orchard since his arrest last Friday.
Detectives alleged that Scott had been communicating while at work over the Internet with someone he thought was a woman with 12-year-old twins but in reality was an undercover agent.
Eventually, Scott asked to meet the woman and her children and a meeting was arranged for Friday at a Bremerton hotel, Crane said.
He was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of second-degree attempted rape of a child and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
