WHITE SWAN — Fort Simcoe State Park near White Swan has been closed because of bear activity.
Park officials say the problem wasn’t the bears approaching people, but people approaching the bears trying to get pictures.
KAPP reports up to nine black bears have been spotted in the park and it’s mating season, which makes them extra territorial.
Washington State Parks is working with the Yakama Indian Nation to relocate the bears. The park may reopen in September.
