GROTTO – A black bear was apparently hit by a vehicle and killed on U.S. 2 Wednesday night between Baring and Grotto, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The bear was discovered in the westbound lanes about 9:15 p.m. A passing motorist stopped and picked up the bear, then called for help on what to do with the animal.
An agent with the state Fish and Wildlife Department was called to investigate, the State Patrol reported.
