College auction benefits child care
The Cascadia Community College Foundation plans an auction and soiree at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Columbia Winery in Woodinville.

City will raise taxes 1 percent
The Edmonds City Council approved the maximum allowable property tax increase at its meeting Tuesday. The increase, which will raise $79,980 for the city in 2005, will raise taxes by $9 a year for the owner of a $400,000 home, city finance director Dan Clements said.
The city’s general fund budget is expected to increase to $27.4 million for 2005 from this year’s $26.3 million.
A second public hearing on the budget and possible adoption are scheduled for Tuesday.
Proposed dance club open for tour
Dale and Nina Jennings, who are trying to open a 24-hour Christian dance club, shelter and community center in downtown Everett, offer an informational meeting and building tour at 11 a.m. today at 1711 Hewitt Ave.
The building would need hundreds of thousands of dollars in upgrades to meet building codes for a dance club, including a sprinkler system, more bathrooms and an elevator.

The Lake Stevens Sewer District Board has changed its meeting schedule for the holiday season.
The second meeting this month will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 23. The first meeting in December will be at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and the second meeting will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 21. All of the meetings are at district offices at 1106 Vernon Road.

Members sought for diversity panel
The city of Lynnwood is seeking volunteers to serve on its new Diversity Commission, a city advisory panel.
There are seven positions on the commission. Members monitor city demographic trends and recommend to the mayor and City Council ways to encourage mutual understanding among citizens. Commission members must be Lynnwood residents, and will serve two-year terms.

2005 historical calendars on sale
The Marysville Historical Society’s 2005 calendar now is available. The calendar, which depicts the city’s early days, is $10, or two for $15.
Proceeds will benefit the society’s fund to build a historical museum at Jennings Memorial Park.
The calendars are available at several businesses on Third Street and at the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce office, 8825 34th Ave. NE, Suite C, in Quil Ceda Village.
‘Wings of Honor’ auction Friday
A fund-raising auction for the “Wings of Honor” project will be 6-10 p.m. Friday at North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th St. SE in Mill Creek.
The aim of the program is to give lower-income World War II veterans or their widows the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., next spring to visit the World War II Veterans Memorial.
Top items for auction include a seven-day cruise for two and a seven-day motor home rental for four in Anchorage, Alaska.
Music and entertainment will be part of the event. Tickets are $15 a person or $25 a couple.
