ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The arrival of a Boeing 747-8 cargo jet is making aviation history in Anchorage.
KTUU-TV reported the freighter landed twice this past week at Ted Stevens International Airport.
On Thursday, it stopped in Anchorage on a flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles. And then on Friday, the cargo jet passed through on its return flight to Hong Kong.
The 747-8 is one of the newest planes in the Cathay Pacific Airways fleet. It is considered the most efficient freighter and one of the largest.
Airport manager John Parrott said the arrival of the cargo jet in Alaska shows the air cargo industry recognizes Anchorage’s importance as a global transportation hub.
