CAMANO ISLAND — The state Department of Health issued a boil-water warning on Friday for people who live in the Thunder Ridge subdivision on Camano Island.
E. coli bacteria were detected in the water there, officials said. The warning affects about 130 homes on the eastern side of the island, southwest of Stanwood.
People who live in that area should boil any tap water before drinking it or using it to brush their teeth, make food or ice, or to wash dishes.
The water system there is scheduled for inspection on Monday. Officials believe the water reservoirs need to be drained and cleaned.
The boil-water warning is expected to last about a week. For more information, call 360-678-5336.
