BOTHELL — Police are looking for a gunman who got away on a bicycle after robbing a 51-year-old Kirkland man.
The robbery occurred about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot behind the Canyon Park Shopping Center, Bothell police Officer Elmer Brown said Thursday.
The victim had walked out of a grocery store and through a shopping center breezeway into a back parking lot. Brown said. The victim was unaware of the gunman’s presence until he rode up from behind and pulled out a small-caliber handgun, Brown said.
The victim complied with the gunman’s demand for money and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from his wallet. The suspect then rode away on a red mountain bike, Brown said.
The victim went into a nearby business and called police, who checked the area but were unable to locate the gunman.
"The good thing about this is the victim complied, didn’t offer resistance, he did exactly as he should have done," Brown said. "Never resist a robber, be as cooperative as possible and follow instructions. If possible, be a good witness and take good mental notes of the suspect and vehicle."
The victim described the gunman as a white or Hispanic male, 18 to 20 years old, wearing a black knit watch cap, a dark blue pullover sweat shirt with a hood, and black pants with three stripes down the legs.
Police ask anyone with information on the gunman to call the Bothell Police Department at 425-486-1254.
