OSO — A 10-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday after he fell out of the bed of a moving pickup.
The boy’s father was reportedly driving. He was arrested for driving under the influence, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Rob Palmer said. Palmer didn’t say whether deputies suspected the man was drunk, high on drugs, or both.
The incident happened about 7 p.m. in the 30600 block of 171st Avenue NE.
Paramedics reported that the boy had serious head injuries. He was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. An update of his condition was not released.
Detectives with the sheriff’s office collision investigation unit were called to the scene. They were expected to be there for hours. No other details were made available Sunday.
“We want to remind everyone that under almost all circumstance it is unlawful for passengers to ride” in the bed of trucks, Palmer said.
