EVERETT — A brush fire continued to smolder east of Everett on Thursday.
At its height, the fire was up to three acres in size, Fire District 1 Chief Ed Widdis said.
No homes are threatened, and there are no evacuation orders, he said.
The fire broke out early Wednesday evening in a steep ravine along Wood Creek, between I-5 and Lowell Larimer Road.
Power lines were turned off in the area, Widdis said. No property damage was reported, as only trees and brush were burned.
Two wildfire strike teams responded, and more than 50 firefighters were on scene, the chief said. As of 11:30 a.m., crews were lined up along backyards to protect homes in case the winds picked up.
At least one firefighter was treated for dehydration. No other injuries were reported. Crews will remain on scene until further notice.
