Comment on projects in the national forest

DARRINGTON — Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is seeking public comment this month on proposed projects in the Darrington Ranger District.

Through April 30, people can express their opinions about projects, most of which are located in the Stillaguamish and Sauk river drainage areas.

The projects include:

  • Closing of Forest Service road 4150, northwest of Verlot, and road 1890 at milepost 1.2, northwest of Darrington,

    Upgrading Forest Service Road 41 from milepost 8 to the Three Fingers Trailhead, northwest of Verlot.

    Repairing Mountain Loop Highway at Hemple and Benson creeks and flood-damaged embankments east of Verlot.

    Rebuilding Old Sauk Trail and trailheads, including a barrier-free interpretive trail loop southeast of Darrington.

    Rebuilding segments of Forest Service Trail 731, White Chuck Bench Trail, southeast of Darrington.

    Removing hazardous trees at Darrington Ranger District compound.
