Eat: Breakfast fundraiser planned

The Snohomish Education Foundation is planning its second annual “Foundation for Success” breakfast at the Snohomish High School cafeteria.

This year’s guest will be motivational speaker Tony Ventrella. The breakfast is at 7 a.m. April 12 at 1316 Fifth St., Snohomish.

Proceeds raised will support classroom grants and educational programs.

Apply: Horticulture scholarship offered

The Floretum Garden Club of Edmonds is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a 2011 high school graduate, community college student or individual planning a career in a horticultural field.

An applicant will be chosen based on interest in horticulture, floral design, landscape design, botany. forestry or a related field, as well as financial need, legal residence, a 3.25 or higher grade point average, activities and achievements in school and community.

The recipient may attend any community college or university in Washington.

The deadline for all applications is May 9.

Craft: Bonnet workshop held

The Snohomish Boys & Girls Club is set to hold an Easter Bonnet Making Workshop from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 8.

Bring a hat to decorate. Bonnet making materials will be available at the event.

Workshop snacks will be furnished by Grilla Bites and the Snohomish Bakery.

The club is at 402 2nd St., Snohomish.

The workshop is sponsored by the Snohomish Easter Bonnet Contest that will be held at the Snohomish Easter Parade on April 23.

Bonnet makers are welcome to enter. No age limit and pets are welcome.

Donations of hats, ribbons and other bonnet decorating materials can be brought to Joyworks, Rowdy Rascals or the Snohomish Boys and Girls Club.

The Youth Challenge Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the Youth Challenge Awards.

Nominate a Snohomish County student in seventh- to 12th grade in one of the following categories: community service, courage, creativity, environmental service, inspiration, leadership or group award.

Listen: Harp concert to come

Sacred Harmonies presents the sixth annual Strings of Light harp concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.

The concert is free and features 15 certified music-thanatologists from throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The church is at 3530 Colby Ave., Everett.

Sacred Harmonies is a part of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s spiritual care team.
