Competitive eater defending Twinkie-eating title

TUNICA, Miss. — Joey Chestnut will seek to defend his title Saturday at the 2014 World Twinkie-Eating Championship at the Bally’s Casino in Tunica, Mississippi.

Last year, the 30-year-old Chestnut set a Twinkie-eating world record by consuming 121 Twinkies in six minutes — about one every three seconds.

The winner will get $2,500. The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bally’s.

Matt Stonie of San Jose, California, who finished second in 2013, returns for this year’s event.

Chestnut, from Vallejo, California, bested the 22-year-old Stonie in August at Nevada’s Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off in Sparks, Nevada.
