All outdoor burning for land clearing and forestry purposes is banned in Snohomish County as of today.
The restriction will run until Sept. 30 and doesn’t include federally managed lands.
Campfires are allowed if built in approved fire pits in designated campgrounds, such as those found in state parks campgrounds.
On private land, campfires are OK with the landowner’s permission and if built in a stone- or metal-lined pit no larger than 3 feet in diameter. The area around the campfire needs to be clear of all flammable material for at least 10 feet around and 30 feet above.
Fires should be attended at all times by a responsible person 16 or older. That person should have tools close at hand to put out a fire, such as a shovel, water hose or 5 gallons of water.
Always completely extinguish campfires by pouring water or moist soil on it and stirring with a shovel until all parts are cool to the touch.
Burn barrels are prohibited in Washington.
