EVERETT — Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon received an honor for creating new jobs through environmental stewardship during the annual Washington State Association of Counties dinner in SeaTac on Thursday night.
Dave Sauter, chairman of the Klickitat County Board of Commissioners, presented Reardon with the honor as a thank-you.
Snohomish County has played a role in creating a renewable energy project at the Roosevelt Regional Landfill in Klickitat County. Together with Klickitat County officials, the Klickitat PUD and Allied Waste Services, local trash is being converted into electricity, reducing the effects of climate change and creating new jobs across the state.
Reardon also was honored recently by the National Center for Civic Innovation for creating SnoStat to measure the effectiveness of Snohomish County’s programs and services.
