ILWACO — A salvage crew has been unable to move a 78-foot crab boat that ran aground at the mouth of the Columbia River near Ilwaco with 3,500 gallons of diesel on board.
The Coast Guard says there was no visible pollution Monday from the vessel — the Titan out of Warrenton, Oregon.
The Daily News reported that the salvage company may have to wait several days for better weather because the vessel is exposed to large waves in shifting tides and river currents.
The Coast Guard safely rescued five crewmen from the Titan when it ran aground Friday and took on water. It carried more than 40,000 pounds of Dungeness crab.
