Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from throughout Snohomish and Island counties, provided by police:

Everett

* 2600 block of Broadway, Jan. 29. Police arrested and cited an Edmonds man, 56, for reportedly shoplifting two 16-ounce cans of beer and a package of cheese. Earlier, the suspect had been released from the county jail, where he was serving time for drunken driving.

* 1600 block of 71st St SE, Jan. 30. The owner of a 1996 Dodge pickup reported that a stereo was stolen from his truck. The stereo is valued at $1,000.

* 1700 block of Broadway, Jan. 30. An Everett man, 35, was arrested and cited for reportedly shoplifting about $100 worth of meat, beer and soft drinks from Safeway.

* 7800 block of Timber Hill Drive, Jan. 31. A resident at an apartment complex told police that while he was taking out his trash he noticed that all the mailboxes for the complex were open. Police didn’t find any immediate evidence of missing mail. Residents advised police of several past mail thefts.

* 11000 block of 19th Avenue SE, Jan. 31. A grocery store employee reported that a man ordered two meals from the deli and left the store without paying for the food. The man was seen leaving in a two-door red Honda Prelude. He was wearing a baseball cap with the word “Police” printed on the front.

* 8500 block of Evergreen Way, Feb. 1. Police cited an Everett woman, 30, for allegedly shoplifting $41.74 worth of cosmetics.

* 1900 block of Wall Street, Feb. 1. A county jail officer reported finding a small plastic bag in an inmate’s wallet. The contents tested positive for methamphetamine. The inmate was booked for possession of a controlled substance in addition to his previous charge.

Lake Stevens

* 117th Avenue NE, 2900 block, Jan. 29. A woman, 52, was walking her dog when an unrestrained dog attacked her pet. A passing motorist saw the dogs fighting and stopped to help. One animal was taken to the veterinarian and the other was secured inside a residence.

* 34th Street NE, 11300 block, Jan. 27. A man, 34, reported that someone broke into his van and stole undisclosed items. There were no signs of forced entry.

* 123rd Avenue NE, 2200 block, Jan. 24. Officers responded to a report of a student disrupting school activities. The student, 14, allegedly struck someone while being removed from a classroom.
