PORTLAND, Ore. — A Gresham father who violently shook his baby daughter has been sentenced to 7½ years in prison.
Roderick Frimpong was sentenced Friday, weeks after a Multnomah County jury found him guilty of first-degree assault.
Police found the 7-month-old girl unconscious on May 9, 2011. Prosecutors say the girl, now 2, doesn’t have full use of the right side of her body and her speech is delayed.
The Oregonian reported that the child’s mother was visiting a cardiologist on the day of the injury. She later died from complications related to her heart condition. The girl is in state custody.
