SEATTLE — A dead whale has turned up under the Washington state ferry terminal in downtown Seattle.
A Washington State Ferries spokeswoman, Susan Harris-Huether, said the creature’s carcass was found just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. It’s about 25 feet to 30 feet long and people nearby say the smell is “not good,” she said.
The agency is asking the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to remove the whale. Harris says it is under one of three slips at the Colman Dock terminal, but service Thursday is not affected.
She says ferry officials have no idea how the whale died or how it ended up at the terminal.
