Decomposed body found on beach near Hoh River

FORKS — Olympic National Park officials say a hiker found a badly decomposed body of a man among driftwood on a Jefferson County beach.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that the Jefferson County sheriff’s office believes the body is that of a missing Hoh tribal fisherman whose boat capsized last month in the Hoh River.

The body was found Thursday on a beach 300 yards north of the river’s mouth. The body was recovered Saturday.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Joe Nole says there’s a high probability the body is that of David Hudson Jr., pointing to the state of decomposition and location of the body.

Nole says they will show Hudson’s family pictures of the body to try to identify it.
