Congratulations, Mike Jeffrey!
You have won a pair of Foxgloves gardening gloves for taking the pruning quiz and for being the first to respond to my post on PlantAmnesty!
Write me here with your mailing address and I’ll send you the gloves.
In response to your comment, Mike, I think it’s OK to prune any time of year if you aren’t doing too much. I’m pretty sure you can safely remove the three Ds — dead, diseased and dumb (crossing or unsafe branches) — any time of year.
What does everyone think about pruning in October?
The No. 9 Pop Quiz question was “Avoid pruning your tree at which of the following times?” And the answer was: “April (leaves are emerging) and October (tree is losing its leaves).”
Post your comments below. I’ll also ask Cass Turnbull what she thinks.
I have a second pair of Foxgloves for the taking for any woman who wants to take the quiz and respond!
Do it.
