Edmonds Community College students interested in living on campus can get tours of Rainier Place, a $16 million apartment complex expected to open next fall.
“It’s on schedule,” said Michelle Graves, an EdCC spokeswoman.
Students can sign up for tours from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Rainier Place will be the first on-campus student apartments at EdCC. The next closest community colleges that offer on-campus student housing are Green River Community College in Auburn and Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon.
“We are thrilled to be one of the few community colleges in the state to provide our students with on-campus student apartments, something that most people attending community colleges don’t have the opportunity to experience,” said Luke Botzheim, EdCC’s housing director.
The four-story Rainier Place will provide housing for 180 students in fully furnished apartments with kitchens, bathrooms, cable TV and wireless Internet access.
Students who attend Central Washington University’s classes on the EdCC campus also can live at Rainier Place.
Edmonds already leases housing in two apartment complexes off its main campus that serve about 110 students.
The new apartment building will include 37 four-bedroom units, nine two-bedroom units and nine studio units, with the option for five to be double occupancy.
Each floor will have common study space, and the first floor will include a community room for social and community events.
