EDMONDS — A 52-year-old woman was treated at Stevens Hospital Sunday evening for smoke inhalation at a house fire that caused $300,000 in damage.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the 20100 block of 81st Avenue W., Edmonds Fire Lt. Patrick Helper said Monday in a press release. The fire began in an upstairs bedroom and spread to the rest of the second floor. Crews contained the fire to one bedroom and a hallway, with smoke damage throughout the second floor and water damage to one downstairs bedroom.
The occupants and their pets escaped. Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Snohomish County Fire District 1 firefighters assisted Edmonds firefighters.

Brightwater sites stay at two: The King County Executive Council voted 10-1 Monday night not to add two former Brightwater sites back onto the candidate list, even after the siting committee advised them to do so.
The Edmonds Unocal site and the Highway 9 site near Bothell will remain the two finalists for King County’s third sewage treatment plant.
The Brightwater Siting Advisory committee asked the King County Council to add Point Wells in Woodway and the gravel quarry located near Bothell, south of 228th Street SE, back onto the list.
In September, the King County Council cut the number of candidate sites from six to two. At that time, Point Wells, the gravel quarry, the Bothell Gun Range and Thrasher’s Corner were dropped from consideration.
Under the site selection criteria set by the King County Council, only Thrasher’s Corner, a wetland area, was deemed unsuitable for development of the treatment plant.
