SEATTLE — Enrollment reopens today for Washington’s prepaid tuition program. Parents who want to save for college by prepaying for a child’s tuition can enroll in Washington’s Guaranteed Education Tuition program until March 31, 2010.
Once enrolled in the program, contributions can be made yearround.
The GET program launches its 12th year this week. More than 106,000 accounts have been opened since the program began in 1998.
This year’s cost for one GET unit is $101. It takes 100 units to attend one year at the state’s most expensive public universities. GET accounts grow tax-free and withdrawals are tax-free when used for tuition, room and board, books or other qualified higher-education expenses.
