MARYSVILLE — Police arrested a 32-year-old Everett man Sunday morning after he allegedly robbed two men at gunpoint.
The victims, a 24-year-old and 28-year-old, had won a combined $5,000 at the Quil Ceda Creek Casino on the Tulalip Indian Reservation, Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
When they left the casino to get food, they noticed that someone they’d been talking to while gambling had started to follow them, according to a media release from the police department. The victims drove to Jack In The Box at 1125 4th Street, and the man who had followed struck up a conversation with them. He got into the car’s back seat and the three went through the drive-through, then stopped in the restaurant’s parking lot to eat.
At about 7:45 a.m., the man in the back seat pulled out a handgun and aimed it at the driver’s head, according to the release. He threatened to shoot if the other two men didn’t give him their money.
The driver and passenger emptied their wallets and gave him the cash, Lamoureux said. The robber got back into his own vehicle and drove away.
Tulalip police got a photo of the suspect off surveillance video from the casino and sent it out to officers around the county.
A little after 10 a.m., Mill Creek police spotted the suspect and vehicle. He ran, but officers caught and arrested him, according to the media release. The victims were able to identify him as the man who had robbed them earlier that morning, and the suspect had a large amount of cash on him when he was arrested.
The man remained in custody early Sunday afternoon and police have impounded his vehicle to look for additional evidence.
Officials declined to release the suspect’s name.
